This concert tour is to celebrate the 30th anniversary of David Knopfler's solo career and his musical collaboration with Harry Bogdanovs. He will be performing a range of material spanning his entire recording career up to and including new previously unreleased songs.
Thirty years ago David (with Harry) recorded and released his first solo album ''Release.'' This was the start of a musically independent future from Dire Straits. From this day on Knopfler has been able to present to the public his own songs, including some notable Knopfler/Bogdanovs compositions, spanning a dozen albums.

David Knopfler - 30th Anniversary Tour
Thirty years ago David Knopfler released his first album ''Release''. This was to be, not only the beginning of a long solo career but also, the start of a musically independent, future from rock group Dire Straits which David founded six years earlier. In the course of his solo career David Knopfler has released a dozen or more albums and composed scores for a variety of of film productions for wide screen and television.
The early eighties already saw the beginning of what would prove to be, enduring teamwork between David Knopfler and Harry Bogdanovs. Multi-instrumentalist Bogdanovs has collected a
number of hits and useful working experience in projects with artists as diverse as John Farnham, Elton John, The Shadows and more recently with Marius Müller-Westernhagen.
All these impressions coalesce into a program full of passion for music. The theme of this year's tour of David Knopfler is retrospection and is a kind of best-of-program through the various stages of his career.

Just in time for David's forthcoming 2013 Tours comes David's new album ''Made in Germany''. This is his first entirely live album, having being recorded in Erfurt in concert, during David's tour of Germany in October 2012. For both David and Harry it was a really special evening and the culmination of a long, successful, collection of concerts. What better way to capture and celebrate 30 years of this very productive musical partnership, than to commemorate this milestone moment on a special Live CD forever.

During his upcoming tour in October/November, David Knopfler will be playing and will present a new electric guitar. It is the classic Fender Telecaster but also customised by David Knopfler. This is not an action from Fender: We went even one step further than the usual signature model as you’ll discover.

We started with a collection of eighteen only regular, but excellent, Fender Telecasters, specially picked by David for their classic style, distinctive build quality and general playability. Then we passed them to David Knopfler's longtime guitar technician and asked him to do exactly the same things normally done to David’s guitars. Work on the nut, replace the strings with his custom gauge (and brand) and to generally set-up the action, bridge and pickup settings to David’s liking. But then we thought. Why not go even further?
David wanted a really specific feature for this guitar. His unique and distinctive sound. We could have switched the pickups for other factory pre-figured models with pre-assigned characteristics that could have approximated to this, but we thought outside the box. Why not actually build new pickups, from the ground up, to his preferred classic, famous sound. And that’s exactly what we did: We have carefully switched out the original pickups with two beautifully crafted, special David Knopfler pickups, built and designed to his exact specifications. So we have worked very hard to find the best combination to put the distinctive Knopfler sound into each of these ten classic collector’s guitars.
In one sentence: This guitar is ready for the stage in the way David Knopfler loves it to sound and to play. A unique instrument with a unique history. David will make a personal and final inspection on each of these limited edition fine instruments, as well as performing with them on his upcoming tour in October/November 2012.
